The Democratic Governors Association unveiled a new TV ad today that furthers claims made in its last attack ad on Republican gubernatorial candidate Susana Martinez. Meanwhile, the Republican Governors Association has donated another $500,000 to Martinez’s campaign.

The DGA ads and RGA donation are additional signs that New Mexico’s gubernatorial race between Martinez and Democrat Diane Denish is one of the hottest in the nation.

The Washington Post blog The Fix is reporting today that the RGA has given $500,000 to Martinez’s campaign “in recent days.” The group had already given Martinez $250,000, so it’s now given Martinez at least $750,000.

The new contribution, according to The Fix, is “the latest sign that national GOP strategists believe that they have a genuine pickup opportunity in the Land of Enchantment.”

The DGA knows that as well, but it’s choosing to spend its money on its own rather than giving it to Denish’s campaign.
