Jamie Bronstein voted at Highland Elementary School on the city’s east side without problem.

“There were zero people in line at 7 a.m.,” Bronstein said. “I was in and out of there in two minutes.”

District 2 City Councilor Gregory Z. Smith, who’s facing Philip VanVeen on today’s ballot, posted on Facebook that he was the 12th voter at the Frank O’Brien Papen Center on the city’s south side. “Voted!!!” Smith posted at about 7:40 a.m.

Barbara Alvarez also voted at the Papen Center shortly before 8 a.m.

“There were a few people in front of me and three or four came in after me, so it was a little busier,” Alvarez said. “Very fast voting!”

Steve Montaño reported higher interest at the Doña Ana County Government Center on the city’s west side. He said he was the 45th voter there at just after 8 a.m.
