Meet our summer intern

As we prepare to launch on June 1, I’d like to tell you about the newest member of NMPolitics.net’s team.

Grace Cowie is graduating from Las Cruces High School this week and will be interning with NMPolitics.net over the summer. You’ll see a handful of blog posts from her in addition to a couple of reported articles between June and August.

Grace is a New Mexico native. She plans to attend university in the fall, after she completes her internship, and major in English literature and computer science. She loves writing, running and singing.

In the short time I’ve known Grace I’ve found her to be articulate and excited about the public debate. She’s interested in how systems affect people. And she has some experience influencing public actions: As president of her high school club Students for Sustainability she ran multiple carpool days and successfully advocated for bike racks to be erected while LCHS was under construction.

Grace says she is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with NMPolitics.net, expand her knowledge of political journalism, and improve her writing skills. She is excited to learn more about the workings of her community.

I’m excited about the opportunity to work with one of Las Cruces’ bright young people!

Look for some posts with Grace’s byline throughout the summer. You can reach her at grace@nmpolitics.net.
