NMPolitics.net is coming back! While the re-launched site will pack the same punch that earned it recognition from the Washington Post and Politico in the past, it’s going to do much more.

The new NMPolitics.net won’t just deliver hard-hitting news and commentary that informs. It will engage by giving you and others an entry point into the conversation, challenging you to be involved, and valuing your participation.

I believe such engagement is an important role journalism should play in the 21st Century.

Journalists should be activists in the purest sense of the word. We should help all people become active participants in our society. We’re not here to push people to advocate for a specific position on a policy. But we should help people from across the political and ideological spectrums be involved in the debate.

If you agree, I need your help.

Running NMPolitics.net is how I make my living. I’ll sell advertisements and seek sponsorships to help fund the site. I also need donations to make it sustainable.

I’m asking you to help me build the most grassroots news organization in the state. Make a one-time donation today or sign up to make automatic monthly contributions using the menu in the right column (or below this post if you’re on a smartphone).

Many of you subscribe to one or more newspapers. Or you pay for cable news channels. Maybe you donate to public radio and television.

Will you also make a donation to help fund NMPolitics.net?

I have a goal of raising $50,000 through donations and sponsorships by June 1, the approximate date the new NMPolitics.net will launch. If you value what NMPolitics.net was before, and if you’re excited about what it’s becoming, please consider making a donation of $500, $100, or even $25. Any amount helps! Give what you can.

If you’re willing to make a contribution of $1,000 or more, email me or call me at (575) 644-5129 to talk about the benefits of becoming an NMPolitics.net sponsor.

Again, you can make a one-time donation today or sign up to make automatic monthly contributions using the menu in the right column (or below this post if you’re on a smartphone). We disclose the names of all donors. Learn more about financial contributions to NMPolitics.net here.

Thanks for your help! I’m excited to build this community with you. Email me with any comments or questions.
