KOB-TV tracked down late last week the man who allegedly created a New Mexico Finance Authority audit officials say was fraudulent, and he disputed some of their claims.

You can watch the news station’s report on Peter St. Cyr’s interview here:

After Greg Campbell’s public statements of August 8, 2012, I hope that there will be a full investigation made in order to determine if any other individuals within NMFA (besides John T. Duff) had any idea what was going on. It seems highly unlikely that a fraudulent audit could be left floating for more than five months without anybody noticing the discrepancies.

More importantly, if nobody else within the organization knew what was going on, then immediate and drastic revisions to the standard operating procedures for record-keeping and accounting practices at NMFA are definitely in order!

Gosh, this guy sounds rather clueless.  What were his credentials for the position?  Why was he hired in the first place?  Who is responsible for having hired him??

It is extremely rare for a person in Campbell’s position to speak with a reporter in a situation like this. That fact, and the forthright manner in which he answered these questions, should cause speculation in regards to the possibility of the involvement of others in the release of this fraudulent audit. Furthermore, the possibility that missing money could actually have occurred ex post facto, should ensure that all parties with access to state funds be immediatley investigated to the fullest extent possible.
