I’ll be watching you, Mr. Wiener

There will be no lynch mob for you, Mr. Wiener. As the senator for this district, and more importantly as a lawyer who goes after the perpetrators of child sexual abuse under civil law, I do promise to watch you.

“The fat guy smoking Pall Malls, he says he almost married one of those girls. Honest. He met her in a bar one of the last times he was in the Philippines and fell in love, almost bought her a ring and took her home. It didn’t work out, though, and he doesn’t say why because it doesn’t really matter. He shrugs.

“The skinny kid with the knobby head understands. Same thing happened to him, sort of. She was 19, beautiful, didn’t wear makeup or anything. She was so… what’s the word? Simple. You know? ‘Just give her the American necessities and those are, like, her luxuries,’ he tells the fat guy. ‘Let her live like a queen.’

“The fat guy grins. His front teeth are missing, and he’s got hair like an oil slick, long and black and greasy. Oh yeah, lots of those girls want an American husband, and they’re not picky, either. ‘As long as you’re not married and you’ve got an income,’ the guys says, ‘you’re good to go.’

“It’s four o’clock in the morning in a Japanese airport, thirteen hours out of Detroit Metro, on a layover in Nagoya before the last 1,700 miles to Manila. The fat guy and skinny kid found each other in the smoking lounge as if they had picked up a shared scent, a couple of misfit white guys dragging halfway around the planet.”

Does this sound familiar? This story out of GQ five years ago goes on about buying girls for sex and walking around with them through Angeles City in the Philippines. It talks about the fake birth certificate that lies the little 13-year-old girl being forced to dance in one of those clubs is 19. The place Commissioner Wiener has been going to for years sells children, boys and girls, and is well-known to the misfit white guys as the easy place to buy children for sex.

Michael Wiener does not represent us

We have representative government. This is my district. I have three teenage girls – one who is 13 – and Michael Wiener does not represent my family. So he will not voluntarily resign. My district, Senate District 21, gets out and votes. We do not have lynch mobs, like Michael Wiener suggests.

It is my job to speak for my constituents, and I want it to be loud and clear that all – each and everyone one of the constituents in my district that have talked about Michael Wiener – are appalled and disgusted by the plain truth of those photos.

“He was nervous the first time. It’s kind of weird, the way you can buy a girl for a couple of bucks, a different one every night, an hour if you want, walk around town with her and not even pretend it’s anything more than a cash transaction.”

Sometimes we vote people into office and sometimes we vote them out. I have faith that the Republican members of my district with come out in droves on June 5 and vote Michael Wiener out of office.

Time for voters to do our duty

There will be no lynch mob for you, Mr. Wiener. As the senator for this district, and more importantly as a lawyer who goes after the perpetrators of child sexual abuse under civil law, I do promise to watch you.

Those photos were a gift to your constituents, and all of us who work to protect children. We know who we have; now it is the job of the voters to do our duty. It is the American way.

You do not represent us here in Senate District 21. We want you out!

Curtis, a Democrat, represents Albuquerque’s District 21 in the N.M. Senate.

That’s fine qofdisks, and like many other politicians who have exhibited boorish, immature behavior while in office and cost taxpayers much expense on investigations and even impeachments, it should be up to the voters to decide if the politicians behavior is so negative as to outweigh their positive contributions.  Let his constituents decide, not some left wing special interest pressure group with tons of partisan venom and no objectivity.

It is time for Wiener to go.  He is an embarrassment.  Somebody needs to have a talk with his mom.

“Of course, if Wiener is right, all of these instances are a misunderstanding. He is always misunderstood, and critics are too sensitive.  But, his misunderstandings have cost taxpayers and Bernalillo County a ton of time, money and reputation to investigate, correct and respond to his foolish behavior.”

Oh I can easily see the difference qofdisks, but you obviously assume great deal, or have information we are not privy to, when you seem to know what Mr. Wiener was there to do.  Having a picture taken with ladies of the night, girls on the make, bar flies, etc. is not a crime last I checked.

I am sorry, Dr. J, that you cannot see the difference between a well to do tart waving her thong at the president and young girls that have to sell themselves to survive from one day to the next and even keep their extended families in daily rice.
Mr. Weiner was not there to do charitable works.

Well said EW-aif, this must be one of those Puritans you mentioned before.  And she is a Democrat, wonder what she thought of Billy Bob Clinton?  This is obviously all politics and not much else, oh, but she is watching and she is a lawyer, be afraid, be very afraid.

Senator Curtis, I am searching the Internet for more articles to back up your accusations and implications, so far I find the Bernalillo county official biography for Wiener, which starts out with

“Commissioner Wiener has a track record of accomplishment in his first term. He led the successful completion of the $25 million Eubank Boulevard reconstruction project (under budget and ahead of schedule), negotiated with the Water Utility Authority to save the Desert Greens Golf Course in Paradise Hills from closure, began the inmate sewing initiative at the Metropolitan Detention Center (where inmates now make their own uniforms), …”
Read more at http://www.bernco.gov/michael-c–wiener—biography-2765/.

Here’s an article about his interest in license plates, “Michael C. Wiener is considered by many to be America’s foremost authority in the field of automobile license plates and motor vehicle licensing systems. …”  http://www.bestplates.com/

Of more concern are the comments on TOPIX back in June 2011.  I couldn’t access the article the comments referred to, and the comments are rather offensive but here they are:  http://www.topix.com/forum/albuquerque/TN61FPAVGI8VSGQ3O

From what I can find, I think your accusations are a bit overstated.

“The place Commissioner Wiener has been going to for years sells children, boys and girls, and is well-known to the misfit white guys as the easy place to buy children for sex.”

Senator Curtis, all I have seen is one photo, and you imply that there are many photos and you accuse Wiener of patronizing “for years” a place that “sells children,”  so you are also implying that he is a pedophile.

These are indeed monstrous accusations, but what proof do you have?  Is this “place” in the Philippines or Santa Fe?

It is hard to stomach this guy who is in the position to make rules that may affect the lives of New Mexican women and girls.  It is disgusting and should frighten every citizen who loves and respects a daughter AND a son.  Accepting this kind of exploitative behavior from an elected representative constitutes cultural toxic waste.  What does this example say to our SONS?
No law may have been broken and prostitution may be a cultural norm in the Philippines but, there really is a moral imperative here.
You guys on this site know my feelings that human weakness generally has no bearing on a politicians competence on the job.  A person may have a momentary weakness or compulsive habit yet are conscientious and righteous with power.  But, this behavior displays an attitude towards women and children generally that can spill over into policy that sets our society on a backwards course with regard to women’s rights and the protection of our children.  This is a man that regards soul endowed women/children/human beings as chattel to be bought, sold and used interchangeably.
Looking at the man’s picture, I can see that he is attractive with a degree of prestige and financial security.  He has plenty of access to proper New Mexican women with good education, accomplishment and cultured willing and longing to be a loyal and devoted life partner. Go read proverbs 31.  Shaking my head.
