ABQ councilor forms CD1 exploratory committee
Albuquerque City Councilor Dan Lewis, a Republican, has formed an exploratory committee as he considers challenging U.S. Rep. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., next year.
Lewis made the announcement Sunday as he unveiled his exploratory committee’s website.
“I’ve heard from many people who believe we are not well represented in Congress. They want and we need a better choice than what we have right now,” Lewis said in a news release published on the site.
“We need someone who understands the people who live, work, raise families, and go to school in our district,” he said. “We need a Congressman who’s focused on the unique challenges facing the people of central New Mexico.”
Lewis criticized Heinrich for voting against President Barack Obama’s tax compromise with Republicans last month, saying Heinrich “voted against extending critical tax cuts for New Mexican workers.”
“That is someone who is out of sync and out of touch with the people he is supposed to be representing and fighting for,” Lewis said.
He said Americans want representatives who will advocate for “fiscal restraint, less spending, and lower taxes,” and said he would support policies that help create jobs.
No one has formally entered the 2012 race against Heinrich.

So, since those sights (sic) imply special interest leanings they are thus not to be trusted? Marty may be a very conservative guy then? I doubt it.
@ DR. J you should read the disclaimers for the sights for which you quote as facts.
“Project Vote Smart collects performance evaluations from special interest groups who provide them, keep in mind that ratings done by special interest groups are biased. They do not represent a non-partisan stance. In addition, some groups select votes that tend to favor members of one political party over another, rather than choosing votes based solely on issues concerns.”
AO,
Good catch. Now I know how you got your name!
There was a decided undervote for the congressional seat as compared to the turn out and votes in other statewide races… There were 203, 860 voters participating in the election in Bernalillo County – Heinrich and Barela pulled 192,703 while the governors race earned 200,915 and the Secretary of State race earned 198,641 … so voters turned out, but 5% decided to not vote for in the congressional race. Having said that – a future candidate opposing Heinrich should be wary of wary of Heinrich not being in touch with voters – he has won two races. Heinrich has warts, but being in touch isn’t one of them.
ABQHome – Jon Barela was a perfectly fine conservative that had the experience to be a great congressman for the district. Too many “conservatives” were too busy harping on his slight differences with the party, and stayed home on election day. Result: Heinrich for two more years, and now a more entrenched incumbent.
And obviously looks have to do with your choice, that’s a very helpful “talent” to have in congress.
You go Dan! CD1 badly needs leadership and someone who listens to the people and isn’t bought and paid for by the special interests. Marty’s special interest ratings and lack of fiscal responsibility are frightening:

And he also refused to answer the “political courage” test questions:

Finally another mouth piece of the conservative party. Nothing new. I am tired of the same old, lower taxes, less spending, smaller government, this is the same conservationism of Ian Rand, nothing changed.
“teo” in the last post should be “two”. Sorry
Finally. An articulate conservative (Lewis) running against an articulate liberal (Heinrich).
This will be a race to enjoy. Between the teo of them, pretty easy on the eyes too.
