Weh starts political action committee

Allen Weh

Former Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen Weh has started a political action committee aimed at “building citizen awareness and support for the principles the American republic is based on.”

Those principles, according to the PAC’s Web site, are “limited government, free enterprise and a strong national defense necessary to protect our nation.”

Weh made the announcement about his PAC, called “For Country,” today in an e-mail.

“I’m very pleased to tell you that I’m reaffirming my commitment to provide leadership wherever I can make a difference in putting this state and nation back on the right track,” Weh wrote. “…In these extremely challenging times, we all need to step up to the plate to make our voices heard. Being responsibly involved is right for New Mexico and right for America! That is why I’m going to do what I can to provide leadership wherever, and whenever, I can make a difference.”

The PAC’s Web site states that it will “support and assist elected officials and candidates for public office that share a similar vision for our nation.” Whether one of those candidates will be Susana Martinez, who defeated Weh in a nasty and bitter GOP primary, remains to be seen. Weh has not pledged his support for Martinez in the governor’s race.

  1. Thank you Allen. You will do good especially to keep that Republican GROUP under control. We cannot have Jay McCleskey and his lapdogs like Darren White making all the decisions in this state.

  2. Save us the buzz lines about limited government, free enterprise, and national defense. He’ll primarily use this PAC against his political enemies, I guarantee it. No Weh, Go a-Weh!

  3. Nice people rarely win elections at this level, gal. Weh spent about 4% of his worth on the primary – there is plenty more where that came from. Weh learned his etiquette lessons early – “if you don’t have anything good to say about anyone, don’t say anything at all” – it may have taken him a while to learn it, but Martinez should count her blessings in that regard. The PAC appears to have statewide and national goals … and I agree, it’ll be interesting to see where the money goes.

  4. I”m surprised Weh has any money left after all the personal money he spent on loosing the primary. The fact that he has not said a word about Ms. Martinez since the primary, confirms why he lost the primary so badly, he is not a nice man and is a sore loser. . Whoever the PAC gives money to will be interesting to see.
