Zimmerman wins county commission primary

With provisional ballots now counted, John Zimmerman is the winner in last week’s Doña Ana County Commission District 1 Republican primary.

Zimmerman won by 13 votes, with 808 votes to Thomas Austin’s 795, the Las Cruces Sun-News is reporting. Zimmerman will face Democrat Billy Garrett in November.

The county commission will certify the election results on Tuesday.
