Yes, jivaro99, I AM satisfied with what we have. You may say he "doesn't know his way around Congress", but given the current state of that institution, is that really a BAD thing?

Hemingway is looking at things from the wrong perspective as is Thinker. It is not what Steve Pearce does or does not deserve. It is what we the people can count on. He may have followed the party line with Bush, but he did a lot of good for the state. That is more than I can say for Teague, or anyone else in the race.
Are either of you satisfied with what we have? Would you rather have a man with experience and drive or would you rather have someone that doesn't know his way around in Congress? He at least has the needs of the people in mind.

Hemingway's points below are only one-HUGE- reason Pearce doesn't deserve to be returned to office. Smart people will ignore his "I'm a Good Christian Man so vote for me and I'll do everything right" act and scrutinize his voting and position record.

I especially agree with Hemingway's first statement: Pearce was a total tool and lackey for what in the past was the Republican party power-base--the Bush Administration and it's many representatives in big business. He voted their bidding on command, like a robotic zombie. The only difference now is that Pearce, being a man never to pass up an opportunity, sees his chance to jump on board ship with the latest power-base in the Republican party: "teabaggers" (whatever THEY can be defined to be).

It's really sad to see that people like Pearce are all that's left of what was once a reasonably sane political party: Christianist fanatics, know-nothing deficit hawks, and self-promoting, performance artists and grifters pretending to "care about my country" while all they really want is to keep the money rolling into their own bank accounts.

There is no such thing as a "conservative" left in the Republican party today, I'm afraid--they don't even know what the word means.

I met Mr. Pearce for the first time last Sat. during a luncheon and was very impressed. His conservative values and concern for our nation were foremost in his mind. He is a good Christian man who will protect our rights and freedoms in America. He is more concerned about doing the right thing than the popular thing. I fully support his efforts.

Mr. Pearce was one of instigators of the problems we have today - always supporting the Bush Administration. He was part of the Washington establishment. Now he trying to hook up with the Tea party fanatics.

This is the same guy, who is a wealthy veteran, who neglected our veterans. Although Congressman Steve Pearce touted he is veteran, he has a miserable record with regards to our veterans. This is a real issue in the 2010 election. In 2003 instead of acknowledging that more money was needed for veterans health care, Congressman Pearce told veterans in Tularosa, New Mexico that problems with VA health care are the result of abuse by veterans and their families of an "entitlement" program. "It's very difficult to get fraud and abuse out of entitlement programs… People sometimes don't exist in the first place or they are passed away and someone is still drawing funds. I am very suspicious of entitlement action," said Pearce. A local veteran responded by telling Pearce, "This is not entitlement, but something we've earned." This was documented in Alamogordo Daily News, on August 6, 2003.

Our veterans and their medical care should be an important priority. the wealthy Pearce could care less for our our military men and women. As Teddy Roosevelt said: "A man (or woman) who is good enough to shed his blood for his country is good enough to be given a square deal afterwards". Mr. Pearce gave the veterans a raw deal. New Mexicans should not FORGET Mr. Pearce and how he treated our veterans.
