Hey 'fear...' - i appreciate your comment, and she did say the right thing ... I do not yet see when she has done it though. In the Senate, John Arthur Smith has done all the heavy lifting and stepped into the face of the Gorging Governor. Again - she has a nice view from the cheap seats but talk is cheap - where is her 'skin in the game'? As for the response from Hallinan - says the right things, but one question - when was 'day one'? Just how long HAS she been saying this?

First, Denish is right -- it's unconscionable to implement a regressive tax like a sales tax. Second, purely politically speaking, I have to wonder whether the Denish campaign asked Speaker Lujan to release that statement. Getting attacked for opposing a crappy tax hike is the best thing that could happen to Denish. Now when the Repubs try to call her a tax-hiker, she can say: I even upset the Speaker of my own political party to fight this sales tax.

The opposition is meaningless and represents free posturing - she can look tough without having to follow through. The senate isn't going to let this dog go anywhere. The Lt Gov has a nice view from the cheap seats - enjoys the fun without having to do any work other than climbing the steps to her seat and eating a hot dog or two.

Denish is wrong on this one. However, I hope the tax is not on food as this would hurt lower income folks. Seeing that she offers no alternative, I hope she reconsiders this.
