Are you KIDDING me? Susana Martinez?! She has been completely incompetent, allowing all kinds of cases to slip by her that should have been easy to prosecute. There's no reason to believe she would be any more intelligent in the Governor's office.

Dr. J,Please cite Balderas' political prejudice, I don't recall seeing it.In general, if the legislature is really going to step up and give Balderas the funding he needs to audit corruption out of existence, why could they not do that as the first order of business?Right now, Richardson has apparently agreed to not making further cuts, but the SAO is already grossly underfunded. Balderas has said over and over, if we just give him the money he needs, he can make it impossibly difficult to hide corruption without getting caught. He says taxpayers will get a positive return on their investment-he can save more dollars than he needs to do it.So far, no one has disputed Balderas' claim. It is fair to assume then, that his claim; saving more dollars than he spends, is undisputed. It is a no brainer. Why not do it, except to make it easier to hide corruption and incompetence?

In general I would agree with the premise of giving the auditor more authority. However, this auditor is too partisan and entwined with La Politica for anything meaningful to be accomplished by that. We need laws, regulations, and independent, non-partisan, objective people to do ths.

I sure hope so Heath. The state auditor is our only line of defense against a growing corruption problem in our state. It will be interesting if legislators do anything at all about this situation, due to that fact that it may hurt them in the long run (after all, who knows which legislators are actually honest...).

If Susana Martinez is elected you will see most of the corruption go away. Her record is exemplary as the District Attorney of Dona Ana County and she will stand tall in the Governor's office. If we get some people in office in the House and the Senate that will stand up and be counted, the State Auditor and the AG will be given power that is needed to prosecute. The people of this state have been taken advantage of long enough. I think they realize now that we have become the laughing stock of the rest of the nation and will want to get rid of the corruption and foolishness in our state house.

Most of the people also realize that electing Diane Denish is putting the fox back in the henhouse. She had many chances to stop most of the corruption while she was Lieutenant Governor, but she was a Richardson lackey.
