If anyone should be sued it should be the PAC for taking campaign money under false pretensions!Read this PAC letter. It says clearly it is raising money for the City Council election. Otherwise how did the PAC use the money? "I'm sorry you couldn't attend the Political Action Committee luncheon on August 17th at which we raised more than $20,000 for the upcoming election. This is a good start for our fundraising efforts...Since the lunch Gil Sorg has announced he is running against Gil Jones and Olga Pedroza is running against Dolores Archuleta. Both Sorg and Pedroza have made it clear they are not business friendly and expect the cost of doing business in Las Cruces to escalate if they are elected. In the last race, Jim Harbison, a retired Army Lt. Colonel and Vietnam Vet has stepped up to run against Sharon Thomas. Thomas's voting record and activism speak for themselves about her stances on the most important issues in trying to improve this economy. This will be a costly election, but much more costly if we don't get involved now and take a stand to elect pro business candidates into the city council. If you have contributed, thank you. If you haven't, please fill out the enclosed card and send an investment in the future of your business..." Also who did the unethical pushpulls?

In Dec. the Jobs For Las Cruces PAC should be reporting the ads they ran just before the election. As for the money I think they promised the losers I do not think you will find a trace of that until the Jobs for Las Cruces PAC files with the state. That will be around March. Mr. Roewe's character and credibility went out the window when he said the PAC was not collecting money for this election and then saying they only said that in order to fund their PAC.

When the December Clerk's reports are published and if there's no money given to any of the city candidate's by the BIA PAC I believe Mr. Roewe would have grounds to sue Mr. Lennes for deformation of character based on his faults accusations. Someone needs to take a stand here if this turns out to be the case. People like Lennes who operate with a poison tongue need to be taught that that there's a price to pay for being wrong.... especially when you are trying to influence the outcome of an election by calling a private citizen a lier and a cheat.

OK, the BIA PAC raised money which they explicitly told contributors was to help Harbison and Jones, who eventually got scared off by the BIA's toxicity and didn't accept it. The BIA PAC was still raising money to influence the election, which makes them a PAC that should be reporting to the city. And, they spent some of the money they raised in the campaign, as proven by the attack ads they ran in the Sun-News against Harbison's and Jones' opponents. Lennes's complaint was a valid one -- we'll see what the PAC is willing to report in the December filing.
