L.C. City Council candidate forum being held today
Las Cruces City Council candidates will participate in a forum this afternoon.
The forum, sponsored by the Las Cruces Association of Realtors, will be held from 3-5 p.m. at the group’s office, which is located at 150 East Idaho Ave. A spokesman for the group said all candidates have confirmed their attendance.
There are six candidates vying for three seats on the council in the Nov. 3 election.
In the District 5 race, Councilor Gil Jones is being challenged by Gill M. Sorg. In the District 3 race, Mayor Pro-Tem Dolores C. Archuleta is being challenged by Olga Pedroza. In the District 6 race, Councilor Sharon K. Thomas is being challenged by James W. Harbison.
Absentee voting by mail begins Wednesday, and in-person absentee voting begins Oct. 14.

Mr. Harbison, Your affiliation with Patriotic Resistance bothers me. I can understand disagreement with issues, but having visited their web site, it is just hate mongering. I found several issues on their site that I agree with, but so much of it is the recent stuff, the likes of Limbaugh and Beck. I reccommend that every voter in district 6 visit Patriotic Resistance website, before they decide who to vote for. I certainly would never fund such site by joining them.
It would be in the interest of all concerned with the direction our city has taken to attend this meeting. Everyone needs to know what each of the candidates stands for.
