Can we agree that the state is broke enough that we need to cut spending and establish some priorities? Don't forget that fees were raised when taxes were cuts - for a net sum zero - which was disengenous at best. When the legislature took the tax off of food, it hurt the poor (those on food stamps) because the GRT on everything else was increased which, seemingly, was counter to what was intended but reflects the myopia in Santa Fe. In the mean time, cities and towns took a cut in their tax base because the GRT on food disappeared. Bait and switch.

As for guilt - lack of endictment does not vindicate - it means someone concluded there wasn't enough evidence to convict (or does it mean something else?). I recall that a jury of peers concluded OJ was innocent too ... it doesn't mean that he didn't butcher two people like pigs.

Yes, the government of New Mexico in most all areas is inbreed, uneducated, corrupt, arrogant, and amateurish. It operates on a century’s old patronage and nepotism system designed to entrench the political families and elites so no “outsiders” can ever be elected. New Mexico government has become a joke, and the laughing stock of America. And the very people who are deeply involved and have created this government are now the ones saying “elect or re-elect me and I will fix it”. Right.

These comments regarding the Governor by the good Dr. imply guilt. Guilt, as you said Heath has not been proved.

Conflicts exist. The one that always confounds me is...lawyers/legislators making laws! Do we keep practicing lawyers out of the legislature? Does Dr. Garcia propose keeping practicing educators from participating in decisions affecting education, especially when they are getting paid by the education "complex"? If so, lawyers, engineers, property owners, insurance agents....on and on should be not allowed to participate? Senator Sanchez, a lawyer, is considering running for Governor...is that too a conflict? Diane Denish's father was an insurance magnate, her uncle was a cable TV businessman equal to Ted Turner...and she benefits from them both. Does she have conflict on those issues?

Even Dr. Garcia gets something for his tenure at NMSU? Is that a conflict when he comments on higher education?

People must manage and demonstrate thru their decisons and actions...not thru the framing of others who also have conflicts and conflicts and conflicts.

Can we agree that the state is broke enough that cuts in spending without a rational tax increase will not fix the problem. No bucks, no Buck Rogers. Just saying...
