Do you know, it takes the same number of conservatives as liberals to change a light bulb: one. The rest just sit around blaming the other for letting the light go out.

It seems like only Democrats are corrupt because the Bush administration used it's Department of Justice for partisan persecution.

First off I am shocked the Bill wants to have a discussion about corruption when his paraty has been at the root of almost ALL evil in NM? Bill seems to forget or not know that all of these "ethical" problems are in his party who is currently and has been in charge for 70 plus years?

Once again here is the discussion about an "Independent" Commission, how will this work? Sounds like a great theaory but how is a person truly independent, election, appointment, drawing name from a hat?

Jefferson said: "When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe,
we shall become as corrupt as Europe ." We did and it happened alright. If we had retained our independent and conservative rural values it wouldn't have, but we didn't and politics led the way to the Chicago corruption that is equally matched by La Politica here.

Many things contribute to the La Politica corruption we suffer from and which makes puts our state in the lower 10% in most every category. Term limits on all elected offices would help a great deal, as would full disclosures of all contracts, contributions, family members, friends, business associates, etc. of elected officials and bureaucrats This along with a truly independent, nonpartisan commission to oversee it all with powers of the law. But fat chance while La Politica rules the state.

One thing that Mr McCamley has forgotten is that most of the corruption in this state over the last 40 years has been laid at the door of the Liberals who have had most of the say in running this state. That is not to say that the liberals have a monopoly on corruption, because they have been given great amounts of authority. This is true of any person with large amounts of power. They will become corrupt to the very point of their power.

Look at the amount of power that acorn has amassed over the last few years and you can see the corruption there, as with Favela, Richardson, E Shirley Baca, Manny Aragon, Jerome Block Jr. and Sr. and the list goes on and on.

Weigh this against the corruption one finds in the conservatives that have governed this state on rare occasions and there is no comparison. Of course at the Federal level, as we can see the corruption extends on both sides of the aisle. But the sad part is that the elected officials do not want to hear the gripes of the people who voted for them and the ones who didn't. They think they are so intelligent that they can tell the people what is best for them and ignore their input. What form of government would you call that Mr McCamley?

Not disputing the main point but the loss of life due to Katrina was primarily the result of incompetence, mostly at the local and state level.
