Bingaman, Udall release earmark requests

For the first time, U.S. senators are required disclose their earmark requests before they can be considered by the appropriations committee. New Mexico’s two senators, Democrats Jeff Bingaman and Tom Udall, complied with that requirement.

I wish their requests were online in a searchable format (they’re non-searchable PDF files), but at least they’re online. Click here for Bingaman’s requests and here for Udall’s.

  1. I agree, that credit card bill was a travesty. It rewards overspenders and people living beyond their means by not making them accountable for their excesses and spendthrift ways, and so the responsible people who pay off their cards on time and don’t live beyond their means on borrowed money will end up paying for the irresponsible ones. This is wealth redistribution ala Obama at work.

  2. If the people of this state and country were smart, they would be raising Billy H— about the Bill just passed by the Congrees and the Senate curtailing charges by the credit card companies and banks.
There should have been a clause in there stopping the insurance companies from charging rates predicated on one’s credit score. Since when does one’s credit score have any thing to do with ability to drive?
They gave the credit card companies nine months to conform, but the credit card companies and banks do not give us nine months when they inadvertantly raise our interest rates, or over charge us on late fees and many other fees they want to attach and these are a form of interest folks!
I have already burned the ears of our Congressmen and Senator’s from this state and everyone else should be doing the same. When will the American people get mad enough to say that enough is enough?

  3. These earmarks pork are disgusting. They are just payoffs to those groups and areas that poured money and time into getting them elected, they do not benefit the citizens’ greater needs or benefit the citizens overall. Good this is now public, but better if this disclosure prompts people to vote this corruption out of office and elect true statesmen
and competent government servants to government. Fat Chance.

  4. Heath:

Thanks for this valuable source of data that allows everyone to see how representatives have no trouble spending other people’s monies, which just happens to be of all American’s.

    This representation?

America like California is bankrupt, but pork keeps flying.

  5. Awesome! Thanks, Jim!
