Guv’s approval rating sinks further
As an investigation into allegations of pay to play continues, along with headlines about controversy and the sinking economy, Gov. Bill Richardson’s popularity has dropped to an all-time low in a new poll.
Richardson’s approval is at 41 percent in the poll, conducted by SurveyUSA for KOB-TV in Albuquerque. The Feb. 23 survey of 600 New Mexicans has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
Richardson’s previous low of 47 percent in the poll, which has been conducted every month since May 2005, came last month. Before that, his approval rating had never dropped below 50 percent. You can view the monthly poll results by clicking here.
Richardson’s popularity has twice climbed as high as 74 percent in the monthly poll.
But, last month, he withdrew his nomination to be commerce secretary amid news of the pay-to-play probe. Since then, other allegations have surfaced. Meanwhile, the economy and the resulting unrest have continued to worsen.

Finally, “King Bill” is like Humpty Dumpty. He has sat on his great wall and now his had a great fall. All good things must come to an end!
New Mexico has continued to fail History 101 and never learns from the failures of the past.
“King Bill” could still get a job with the Obama Administration…he could hand out “porkilus” checks to companies in California or maybe be the “Czar of Procurment.”
The old saw: “The bigger they are, the harder they fall.”
Perhaps Val Kilmer would like to write the final exit script for the GUV as he rides off into the sunset!
