With respect to Bob Gallagher’s replacement by Judas Richardson, our esteemed disloyal Governor, thank God Mr. Gallagher is not Richardson’s pupet and speaks his mind. Democrats like Bob Gallagher and Tim Jennings are a welcomed respit to the left wing and right wing bomb throwers in politics today. Both of these democrats are truly “fair and balanced” and call a spade a spade, something the hard cores on both sides of the aisle do not like.

The Governor probably heard enough of Gallagher’s arrogance and misdeeds; he is complimented for making the right decision. The final straw probably was Gallagher’s opposition to local elected officials who have NMSU faculty and student constituents in their districts. He opposed the union,he recommended NMOGA to fund opponents of Democrat elected state legislators who supported the university, and he appeared to be involved in internal issues of the university where he should not have imposed. NMSU is better without him.

Gallagher’s exit is a welcome reform. His conduct in regards to the two professor’s sexual harassment case was unprofessional, undignified and reflected poorly on a terrific university.

Let’s hope the appointment of Salopek helps rebalance the mission of the university, and reminds everyone this is a land grant institution, with a tradition of offering educational and research programs in things that are interconnected with our community and our region: life, health and earth sciences, engineering, and healthy, sustainable agricultural practices.

The Gov was correct when he did not replace Gallagher. Gallagher was more interested in advocating for NMOGA, his boss than for NMSU. Simple, Bob lost his direction…is the Gov. playing politics? Yes, but to the benefit of NMSU.

I guess Big Bill needs to repay some political favors before he flees the state of New Mexico for better opportunities. Too bad he never thinks about what might be best for the citizens!
