I was part of a team of journalists from New Mexico In Depth who were recognized for our work this weekend by the New Mexico Press Women.
At its annual awards banquet, the organization gave NMID its first-place award for overall excellence.
In addition, I won first place in the organization’s online editorial/opinion category for my commentary “We must treat Central American immigrants humanely.” My article “New Mexico’s forests are warming and transforming” received an honorable-mention award in the online feature story category.
And I was part of a team of journalists whose coverage of the state’s freezing of Medicaid funds to behavioral health organizations won second-place for continuing coverage.
As I transition away from NMID to working full-time on NMPolitics.net, I’m honored by the recognition. I also want to congratulate the other winners, including several I worked with at New Mexico In Depth: Trip Jennings, Lindsey Anderson, Andi Murphy, Rene Romo, Julie Ann Grimm, Sandra Fish, Bryant Furlow and Laura Paskus.
